TIFF to JPG in 3 steps

  1. Add the .tif or .tiff files from your scanner folder or camera card.
  2. Press "Convert to JPG"; each image is re-saved at about 92% quality.
  3. Download the JPGs; a batch of scans comes as one ZIP.

Why ConvertKoala?

  • Megabytes become kilobytes

An uncompressed A4 scan can top 25 MB as TIFF. As a JPG it often fits comfortably under 2 MB.

  • Opens on any phone

iPhones and Android galleries, WhatsApp and most web forms don’t show TIFF. Everyone can open a JPG.

  • Sensitive scans stay local

IDs, contracts and medical papers are converted in your browser. They never pass through our servers.

  • Whole scan folders at once

Drop a stack of TIFFs from the office scanner and get them all back as JPGs, with no daily cap.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I have TIFF files in the first place?

TIFF is the archive format of scanners, fax software, print shops and some professional cameras because it keeps every detail. That makes it perfect for storage and printing but awkward for email, phones and web uploads.

My TIFF has several pages. What happens?

Only the first page is converted to a JPG; a JPG holds a single image. For a multi-page scan such as a contract, make a document instead with TIFF to PDF, adding the pages as separate TIFFs.

Will I lose quality?

JPG at about 92% quality looks the same to the eye for photos and scanned pages. It is lossy, so keep the original TIFF if you’ll ever need to reprint at maximum quality.

Why do the colours look a little different?

Print-shop TIFFs are often CMYK, and some scanners save 16 bits per channel. Browsers convert both to standard 8-bit RGB for screens, so very saturated colours or subtle gradients can shift slightly.

How much smaller will the file be?

It depends on the content, but uncompressed TIFF scans commonly shrink to a tenth of their size or less. Need it smaller still for a form? Use Compress Image afterwards.

Can it handle very large TIFFs?

Yes, within your device’s memory. Very big files, like 100 MB poster scans, take a few seconds longer and work best on a computer rather than a phone.
