Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between pixels and KB?
Pixels describe the dimensions: how wide and tall the image is, e.g. 1080 × 1350. KB describes the file size: how much space it takes. This tool changes the pixels. A smaller image usually ends up with a smaller file too, but if you need to hit a specific KB limit, use Compress Image.
How do I resize a photo for Instagram, a profile picture or a form?
Look up the size the platform or form asks for, then type that width and height here. If the shape differs from your photo, turn off "keep aspect ratio" only if you accept some stretching; otherwise match one side and leave the other to follow.
Can I make an image bigger?
Yes, but enlarging can’t add detail that isn’t there. The image gets more pixels, yet it will look softer or blurry, especially at two or three times the original size.
What does "keep aspect ratio" do?
It keeps the width-to-height proportion of the original, so when you change one side the other is calculated for you. Turn it off to set both sides freely; the image may then look stretched.
Can I resize images on my phone?
Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap "Choose files" and pick your photos. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported; iPhone’s HEIC format is not supported yet.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Resizing runs inside your browser on your own device. Your images never reach our servers, and nothing is kept once you close the page.
