Remove EXIF data in 3 steps

  1. Choose your JPG, PNG or WebP photos.
  2. Press "Remove Data".
  3. Download the clean copies (several photos come as one ZIP) and share those.

Why ConvertKoala?

  • Location gone, picture untouched

Only the hidden data is removed. The image itself is copied as is, so there is no quality loss.

  • Upright and true colours

Photos that rely on a rotation tag are saved upright, and the colour profile is kept so colours don’t shift.

  • Private by design

It would make little sense to upload a photo to clean it. Here the work happens in your browser.

  • Batch, free, no account

Clean one photo or a whole album at once. No caps, no signup, no watermark.

Frequently asked questions

What is EXIF data?

It is hidden information your phone or camera saves inside the photo: the camera model, the date and time it was taken, the editing software and often the GPS coordinates of where you stood. You don’t see it in the picture, but anyone who downloads the file can read it.

Can a photo really reveal where I live?

Yes. If location was on when you took it, the photo can contain coordinates precise enough to point to your house. Many big social networks strip this on upload, but forums, marketplaces, email attachments and file-sharing links often keep it. Cleaning photos before posting a listing from home is a good habit.

Will the image quality change?

No, for almost every photo. The image data is copied as it is and only the metadata is dropped. The one exception: if a photo shows upright only because of a rotation tag, removing the tag would make it appear sideways, so we re-save it already upright at very high quality.

What is kept?

The picture itself, its format and its colour profile (ICC), so colours look the same as before. Location, camera details, dates, software and similar hidden fields are removed.

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes. Open this page in your phone’s browser, tap "Choose files" and pick your photos. JPG, PNG and WebP are supported; iPhone’s HEIC format is not supported yet.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device. Your photos never reach our servers, and nothing is kept once you close the page.
