Why ConvertKoala?

  • Six places to put them

Top or bottom, left, center or right. Bottom center is ready by default for theses, reports and handouts.

  • Start where you need

Continuing from an earlier chapter? Set the first number to 25 and the count carries on from there.

  • Landscape pages too

Rotated and wide pages get their numbers in the right spot, upright and readable.

  • Private, free, anywhere

Numbers are added in your browser on phone or computer. No upload, no account, no page limit.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I put the page numbers?

In any of six spots: top left, top center, top right, bottom left, bottom center or bottom right. Bottom center is selected by default, since that is where most documents carry their numbers.

Can I show "page 1 of 12"?

Yes. Choose the 1 / 12 format and each page shows its own number and the total, like 3 / 12. Or keep the simple 1, 2, 3 style.

Can numbering start from a number other than 1?

Yes. Type any starting number. This helps when a document is one part of a longer work and has to continue where the previous part ended.

Can I leave the cover page without a number?

Not yet; every page in the file gets a number. A workaround: split off the cover with Split PDF, number the rest starting from 2, then join them again with Merge PDF.

Does it work on landscape or rotated pages?

Yes. Numbers follow the way each page is shown on screen, so they stay upright and in the spot you chose, even on rotated or wide pages.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The numbers are drawn onto the pages inside your browser, on your own device. Your PDF never reaches our servers. Password-protected PDFs are not supported yet.
